Attending the Soul Fire Farm 3D skill share on mycology, led by the incredible Darren LeBaron, proved to be nothing short of phenomenal. My journey into the world of mushrooms began a couple of months ago when I delved into researching their medicinal benefits, prompted by a recent nerve injury. While I had heard whispers about the magic of mycelium for years, this injury became an invitation to explore further, unlocking the door to a truly fascinating realm.
Gratitude fills me as I reflect on Darren’s journey across the pond from the UK to share his wealth of knowledge. His teachings not only delved into the practical aspects of growing mushrooms but also unveiled the historical significance that has woven these fungi into the fabric of human existence. The day was a rich tapestry of insights into cultivation, the interconnectedness of mycelium networks, and the transformative potential of mushrooms in healing.
Amidst this immersive learning experience, our kitchen magician Ria treated us to the most delectable vegan mushroom lasagna, a culinary masterpiece! As we learned, my dear friend Leah was busy planting 3000 blueberry plants, a testament to the farm’s commitment to sustainable and regenerative practices.
Returning home, I continued my mushroom journey by savoring a delicious soup featuring lion’s mane and oyster mushrooms from Collar City Mushrooms in Troy. The experience at Soul Fire Farm left me not only satiated with newfound wisdom but also deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect with the rich history and cultivation practices surrounding these incredible organisms. My exploration into the world of mycology has become not just a response to an injury but a vibrant and ongoing dialogue with a realm that holds both healing and culinary wonders. Thanks to Soul Fire Farm for orchestrating another brilliant and beautiful day, igniting a passion for mushrooms that continues to flourish in my daily life.
